Extrapolating Experience Gained with the Sld Detector to Higher Energy And/or Luminosity

چکیده

The operation of the SLD detector at the SLC, the only existing high energy linear col-lider, is a good place to address the question of the feasibility of operating a sophisticated cylindrical geometry detector in a high energy and/or luminosity environment. Performance aspects of the SLD relevant to this question are presented, along with a qualitative discussion about the extrapolation to higher energy and luminosity. In particular, the choice of a combined barrel/endcap geometry seems undesirable for operation in a linear collider environment.
